![]() The Thunderbolt has a slightly higher yield, but the Tempest has a massive range advantage, so it boils down to what you prefer. For anything up to an M3 you can spam Wasps (5-6 of them will either kill or heavily damage most pirate M3s) or, if they lack a rear turret, use something like a Thunderbolt or Tempest. ![]() If you keep salvaging wares and ships and sell them to your prefered faction, you will usually have enough rep to buy an M6 within about an ingame day.Īs for pirates smashing you with PBGs, missiles are your friend. Expand your satellite network and keep going until you have about 10 UTs running around. One possible method to increase rep fast-ish is to place advanced satellites in known hot spots, that is sectors bordering on pirate and xenon space, pick up the loot and sell it to one faction, and then buy a TS every time you reach about 15 million and start training it for UT duty. Very broadly speaking, the third or fourth most powerful weapon the ship can mount, in terms of DPS, will usually fall into this category. Within reason of course, as putting IREs on an M7 does mean you can fire all day, but you will do exactly jack s*ht against anything bigger than an M5.ģ - The middle ground, which is a mix between 1 and 2. This is offset by a high energy drain, and in a worst case you have to pull back after firing only a few volleys because you run out of energy.Ģ - Sacrificing damage output for staying power. Generally speaking, weapons in LU roughly fall into one of the following categories:ġ - A very powerful alpha strike and high damage output. The EMPC is actually a good weapon, as it has a nice balance between energy usage and damage output. I learned this the hard way, and now only use PBGs in M6s due to the very high energy drain. It will also drain the weapon capacitor of most fighters in 3-5 volleys, meaning you're completely vulnerable for ~10 seconds while your weapons recharge enough to fire another volley. Regarding combat: The Plasma Burst Generator is a very powerful weapon. It will also bring the satellite within scanner range of hostile ships, so you are likely to lose a few in sectors that see a lot of hostile action. It will automatically buy satellites when it runs out, taking the money from your personal account, so only do this if you got some cash coming in. The cheapest option is a single satellite per sector, which will be deployed 30 km above the sector center. Regarding satellites: You can set a ship with explorer software to deploy satellites for you, saving you some micromanagement. Ultra nitpick: It's "Omicron Lyrae." Affectionally referred to as "OmLy" among people who have played this game for way too long. :P Unless you use the Angel that is, since it's weird and is the only TP capable of carrying XL cargo. If you try to haul ore with a TP you're going to have a bad time. There's some mixup between TP (passenger transport) and TS (cargo ship) there. While they are prone to doing stupid stuff like fly through hostile sectors to get to a neutral sector they can map, they will generally have the entire universe mapped within an ingame day if left to their own devices. I would recommend clarifying to avoid confusion.ĭamyath Ultralight - starts with a Pegasus Raider M5.ĭamyath Medium - starts with Pericles Vanguard M4 and 4 Kestrel explorers.ĭamyath Advanced - starts with Mamba Advanced M3 and 6 Kestrel explorers.ĭamyath Trader - starts with Caiman Advanced TS and 3 Kestrel Explorers.Īll vanilla game starts place you in Argon Prime, and for the starts where you get explorers these are fully tuned Kestrels with explorer software, triplex scanners and advanced satellites. The "Daughter of Terra" start is a part of the Diverse Game Starts script by Solarahawk, and not a part of vanilla LU. Some constructive criticism/nitpicking/long ass rant because I've played LU way too much: Because it's not unheard of to do 400 of these missions in a game, getting the extra reward is worth it. This can increase the reward from 4-5 million to 8-9 million. While the general opinion is that traders take a long time to pay for themselves, once you have a TL and are doing station building missions, the increased trade rank of 25 versus 21 can increase the Very Hard mission reward. ![]() Hopefully helps a few new or returning players sink their teeth into the mod.ĮDIT: I've changed my priority on traders versus miners. It's still a WIP and anyone with this link can comment and provide suggestions for content you'd like to see in the guide. I'm putting together a guide that started as a collection of my own notes from various sources (Wiki, Discord, Reddit) and from doing things in-game. ![]() Because it's a pretty deep mod that changes a whole lot, I've been asking constant questions and doing constant reading about LU. After the X4 Foundations release, I've gone back to playing X3 and started a playthrough with Litcube's Universe for the first time.
